MIKE ACEVEDO MEMORIAL FOUNDATION TOURNAMENT

SEASON – June 1, June 2, and June 3

All varsity teams that enter the summer league will be scheduled to play a 3 game minimum as part of the 2nd annual Mike Acevedo Memorial Foundation Tournament. This tournament is in memory of Mike who left us in 2016. Mike was a long cherished coach, athletic director and educator in Tucson. Mike was long time varsity golf and baseball coach. Mike was athletic director at Santa Rita High School. Mike later was assistant coach at Empire High School. The funds raised for this tournament will go directly to the foundation in Mike’s name.

27TH ANNUAL LAS VEGAS DESERT CLASSIC

The varsity division, including the Acevedo Tournament, teams will play minimum 11 regular season games. There will be a post season tournament for the Varsity Division with the winner receiving a paid entry fee berth paid for by the league to compete in the 27th Annual Las Vegas Desert Classic October 26-28, 2018.

REGULAR SEASON – June 1 TO June 30 (includes Acevedo Tournament).

NUMBER GAMES – 11

DAYS OF PLAY – Monday through Saturday

GAME VENUES – City, County, School fields, Kino Sports Complex

LV DESERT CLASSIC QUALIFYING TOURNAMENT – July 5-14

QUALIFYING TOURNAMENT – Format to be determined All teams that participate in the summer league will be eligible and scheduled to compete in this qualifying tournament. If a team wishes not to compete in the qualifying tournament they must advise the league by MAY 15TH

LAS VEGAS DESERT CLASSIC – October 26-28

REGISTRATION FEE – $135.00 per player. No scholarships or payment plans Registration fee covers all regular season and tournaments. Registration closes May 31, 2018.

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY/AGE CUTOFF – May 1, 2018. Player turning age 19 prior to May 1, 2018 not eligible for play in this league.

BAT SPECIFICATION – BBCOR or solid one piece wood bat.

INSURANCE – League provides liability coverage for all players and coaches. Players and coaches injured during a practice or game and requires medical treatment they do so on their own health insurance plan. The league does not include medical/accident coverage.
